🇪🇸 ¡Viva España!
Hey, Tennis Pro! It's finally Fridaaay!
Unstoppable Stan. It has been a real pleasure to see a tennis giant like Wawrinka once again show what he is capable of, and even better at home. He has played two smart matches, beating 2nd seed Casper Ruud in straight sets in the first round and nailing the win in the round of 16 against American Brandon Nakashima in a two out of three sets contest. Without wanting to be pessimistic, tomorrow Stan the Man faces Bautista Agut who has been solid throughout the season, although with recent setbacks in the second half of the year, with just a a single quarter-finals since August. An interesting test is coming for the Swiss who seeks to defend his locality and has only reached his second quarter-finals so far this year.

Spain is in a very interesting moment, tennistically speaking. It has the 1 & 2 of the ATP ranking with a high age contrast between Carlitos Alcaraz and Rafa Nadal. One barely building his career and the second getting closer and closer to the twilight of his. Nadal was accompanied all the way by Carreño Busta, Bautista Agut and Ramos Vinolas, constantly fighting for the first places of the second-tier level on tour.
Meanwhile, the exponential growth of three key players from Spain is striking, two of them still looking for their big breakthrough on the courts. Munar has had a very active season, but without much to boast of, while Davidovich Fokina shows much more potential in the short term at just 23 years of age and having reached his first Masters final in Monte Carlo earlier this year.
Spain sees in its players a notorious chiaroscuro, the departure of a fruitful generation for the Spanish and the promise of a new successful generation for the country of paellas, bulls and wine stained white shirts.

“Best match I’ve played in my whole life” – Felix Auger Aliassime
Apart from the fact that we had already singled out on the excellent end of the year that Auger Aliassime is having, what was seen today on the courts of Basel was simply perfect. He knocked Russia's Kecmanovic out of contention in straight sets, allowing only one game for the Russian.
The numbers support his excellent performance, really digging in during the second set. He had a perfect 1st serve going 11-for-11 correct executions and racking up 21 winners and 10 aces for the match record. The Canadian is at his best level, redoubling his pace for the end of the year in the Turin Finals, where he already has his place secured. But, first: Basel.
