๐Ÿฆ Old Alcaraz vs New Alcaraz!

Hey, Tennis Pro! It is the middle of the week!

Tough love from Wawrinka (?) At the end of the match between Danish rising star Holger Rune and Swiss veteran Stan Wawrinka, there was anโ€ฆ awkward moment? Apart from the three match points that Rune saved, the headliners drew attention to the words they exchanged at the net when the clash ended in favor of the Dane.

โ€œMy advice to you is that you stop acting like a baby in courtโ€ โ€“ Stan Wawrinka, 2022 in Paris.

Judging by Holger's Twitter reaction, he decided to look at it on the bright side and take it as advice from a veteran to a trainee, but the words were certainly not that noble at all.

What do you think? Petty losing or tough love?

I started this radar plot thinking about comparing Carlitos' stats against the rest of the ATP Top 10, however, I soon realized that the stats are quite similar between the top ten contenders, so there was not much to see. That's why I decided to take this graph to the next level, comparing Alcaraz in his debut year, against Alcaraz in his best year on tour (just two years later).

The biggest positive difference is seen in the number of Service Games Won and Break Points Converted, two of the five crucial stats for any tennis player. I think that specifically these two stats speak to the level of maturity that a player has, since they tend to be pressure situations on these types of occasions. Alcaraz has had unimaginable growth in the last two years, and his personal performance data speaks volumes.

Norrie criticizes Djokovicโ€™s Turin Finals run

A topic that has been very present recently in social networks is regarding the criteria that was applied in favor of Novak Djokovic to obtain the necessary score for the ATP Turin Finals. The ATP had previously announced that no points would be awarded in this year's Wimbledon edition for reasons of force majeure (some Russian issues), but it turns out that this rule was not fully applied to Novak and today he secures his spot in the Turin Finals benefiting from those "nonexistent points".

In addition to Cameron Norrie, the Australian Nick Kyrgios was dissatisfied as well, since he also did not benefit from his passage to the final of the British Grand Slam, yet he recognized that Novak should participate in the ATP Finals, nevertheless. I think this is what the issue boils down to, the rule seems to be distorted in one way or another, but with or without rules in favor of Novak, the reality is that everything is shaping up for Nole to be presented in Turin at the end of the year, and in that case we all win for sure!
