Il Veggente
Hey, Tennis Pro! It is Thirstday!
Stefanos battles through Medvedev. Tsitsipas survived an intractable version of Daniil Medvedev who held off four match points between the second and third sets.
In what is being called the best match into the ATP Finals week, Stefanos moved towards the semi-finals in Turin, eliminating Medvedev on the way and securing a contention for the last Red Group ticket against Rublev on Friday.
The Greek brought out his best net game, capitalizing on 80% of his forward drives on court against the 2020 ATP Finals Champion.
Tsitsipas is now 3-0 in third-set tie-breaks at the ATP Finals and lessens the paternity the Russian has over him by bringing his all-time H2H record to a closer 4-7.
🧬 The Serve Evolution in the ATP Finals

The evolution of the serve in the history of tennis is reflected in the age-old editions of the ATP Finals. The contrast that exists between decade and decade is marked mainly in the transition to the new millennium and triggers a negative trend in the effectiveness of aces, the same as the decrease in double faults.
The ATP Finals have seen different surfaces throughout their editions, moving from carpet to hard court during the 90's decade, drastically affecting the speed of play.
The historic edition that surpassed 400 aces in the tournament came from heavy hitters like Boris Becker, Goran Ivanisevic and Pete Sampras. On the other hand, the most recent editions with the prominence of The Big Three have seen a decrease in the presence of first serve winners.

💯 Nole keeps the perfect pace in Turin
Let's kick off with a Big Three stat. In the ATP Finals, here's the record for next stage qualifications for each of the GOATs participation: Federer: 16/17 Djokovic: 11/15 Nadal: 6/11.
Novak has had a dream week in Turin accompanied by his family in the stands. The Serb already had his ticket to the next stage secured since his previous victory against Tsitsipas, but today's match serves to reaffirm himself as a solid title contender.
In Novak's own words, he played a “flawless” two set match against Andrey, in which he hit 12 aces with a win percentage on 1st serve of 94% and striked 19 winners with 0 unforced errors.
Added to his good run in Turin, Djokovic just received authorization to compete in the 2023 Australian Open. Novak finally returns home after an absent edition and will seek to defend his hegemony in Grand Slams on the Australian courts.
