Lately I've been having that weird feeling that the tennis year has come to an end.

The Grand Slam season ended with Alcaraz at the top of the world, the Laver Cup was gone in the blink of an eye and we just said our goodbyes to the greatest in history (actively missing you, Roger).

In the meantime, a) Djokovic continues to lift trophies in Tel Aviv, b) Shapovalov lost another final in Korea and c) Rune missed out on his second title of the year in Sofia.

(All this just last weekend.)

Tennis is definitely not done with 2022!

Novak is the king of kings in making bread by playing tennis for a living and is ranked as the single player who has cashed in the most prize money in history. Nadal (another GOAT) follows closely, and from there down the rest of the mortals.

The next gen top 3 we've had for the past years (Medvedev, Zverev and Tsitsipas) are hot on each other's heels and, ironically, there seems to be an uneasy titan between Carlitos and Rune, who are set to be the next tennis giants.

Back to Tokyo

The oldest ATP tournament in Asia returns after two years of stoppage after the pandemic. The last winner was none other than Nole in 2019 against John Millman in straight sets. So far, the surprise of the tournament is the early exit of Australian Alex de Minaur against Soonwoo Kwon, just as we are about to enter the round of 16 while the first round matches are defining the last players aiming for the finals.
