😇 Who behaves better in the court? Men vs Women!
Hey, Tennis Pro! It is Thursday.
Dominic dropping bombs. If you are a lucky guy who have had a chance to see the Gijón Open, you've been able to see the level that the Austrian is showing on the court. Mother of God, that backhand keeps capitalizing without fail every time he takes it out for a ride. Although Giron managed to complicate the first set, Dominic was unforgiving in the next two and completely annihilated the American.
Is Dominic Thiem really back?

This graph shows data updated 4 years ago, but I figure what's valuable is the way it shows the distance of code violations between men and women (mostly). Simply astonishing the number of rackets broken by men compared to women. For every racket a woman breaks, more than six men have smashed theirs.
However, I call back to Serena as the only area in which women surpass code violations is unauthorized coaching. Women seem to be more guilty of receiving wrongful advice from their team, and it brings to mind of that controversial scene from the 2018 US Open in which Serena received a strong reprimand from the judge for receiving support from her coach.
Men seem to lose their temper more often and women tend to seek more penalized advice from their team. Interesting…

Ciao, ciao, Berrettini!
We just published an infographic a couple of days ago that positioned Matteo as the favorite to win the trophy in Firenze. However, his path came to an early end with a surprise victory in three sets by the Spanish Roberto Carballés Baena over the local.
The game was very, very close. Berrettini showed a first class first serve, with 13 aces to his name, in contrast to 4 serve winners of the Spaniard. The match was so close that even Matteo (114) won more points than Caballés Baena (113).
What I believe happened to Matteo is that he didn't have the ability to maintain momentum when he took the lead during the match, and little by little the Spaniard maintained a style of play that was uncomfortable for the Italian. The Italian gave up almost no advantage, but the Spaniard seized every chance he had, shutting out the tournament favorite on his first appearance on the court.
